Firstly The Benka Boradovsky Bordello Band with, Polkapocalyptic. The Benkas travelled to Berlin earlier this year and while they were ther they made this video with Nathan Taare and Dylan Bakker from Sumone Productions. The story goes that he video was filmed over 5 days but the unfunded production ran to 4 months due to all sorts of unforeseen and unfortunate mishaps including spontaneous pneumo-thorax’s (collapsed lungs) and exploding cameras. Edited from a hospital bed in East Berlin and funded by weekly busking sessions terrorised by Neo-Nazis, the music video continues a long tradition of kiwi ingenuity and tomfoolery.

And finaly Renee-Louise Carafice with Lorazopam. This is the fourth single from her debut album Tells You to Fight which was recently included in Nick Bollinger’s new book 100 Essential New Zealand Albums.
Renee-Louise Carafice is a dark-folk-pop songstress born in New Zealand, based in Chicago. With a bitingly honest and brutally fragile voice, she sings of her messy rollercoaster ride of a life, over rich and complex melodic structures.

They bring… Backpacks full of road songs, battered acoustics and no name electrics, banjo and glockenspiel, mandolin, harmonica, foot stomps and old time singing, straight from the gut, the fist and the heart…
They play ‘cause they have too, not because they wanna see their faces in a magazine or in a video or on a chart, or to soak it up in a showcase. They’ll play because they care, about the songs about the show about the folks they meet and the hands they shake.

Teacups began when Elizabeth and Chelsea started to busk to earn enough money for dinner. The only songs in their repertoire were those of the Jenny Lewis record ‘rabbit fur coat’.
From their they formed a trio welcoming, Talita, they traveled a bit and recorded an EP titled ‘Sleepy EP’. Real Groove magazine liked them so much they gave them a full page feature, this lead to bigger and better things, and the ladies have shared the stage with the likes of Jose Gonzalez , Cat Power and Kimya Dawson.

Bannerman is the bastard son of Richard Setford, who’s previous love child was the soul funk collective, One Million Dollars. Conceived and recorded in the basement bedroom of a Western Springs flat, Bannerman slowly deformed into a collection of songs, that were culled to make up this 7 track debut.
This is the third single from the debut Bannerman EP.
